Mosquera started his career in the youth teams of Club Deportivo Los Millonarios, finishing his formation at Club Atlético River Plate (Argentina). He returned to Colombia in July 2004 as he signed for Atlético Nacional, where he played for one 1/2 seasons.
A SV Werder Bremen scout spotted Mosquera at the South American U-17 Championship, and signed him in January 2006 to a three 1/2-year contract,[1] but he was immediately loaned to Danish Superliga side SønderjyskE.[2]
In 2006–07, Mosquera was loaned by the Germans to another club in the country, SV Wacker Burghausen in the second division.[3] During the entire season, he scored only once - against SpVgg Unterhaching, in a 2–0 away triumph - as the team finished in the penultimate position and were relegated.
Mosquera had a trial at FC Carl Zeiss Jena in the summer 2007, but a heart attack made any eventual deal fall through.[4] Having returned to Werder Bremen for 2007–08 (his league debut coming on November 3 against F.C. Hansa Rostock, and scoring his first top flight goal against FC Energie Cottbus on the 24th, always as a late substitute), he would be loaned again, joining Alemannia Aachen (second level) on 25 January 2008.
On 24 June, Mosquera was once again loaned, rejoining SønderjyskE for the 2008–09 season,[5] helping his team narrowly escape top level relegation. After his return to Werder, he signed a new contract with the club but was loaned immediately, now to 1. FC Union Berlin, in Germany's second division.
Mosquera was a member of the Colombian U-20s at both the 2007 South American Youth Championship and the 2005 South American U-17 Championship.
